Walker’s Week 24 June 2012

My little boy, Thomas, has been suffering with tonsillitis this week…

The second time he’s had it in a few months.

As you can imagine, sleep has been in short supply over the past five days or so!

But, one of the positives of being waking up to the shrill screams of an unwell child during the small hours of the morning is you can work on your projects earlier!

In fact, this week has been quite a productive one!

I intend getting all the affiliate side of things for Inbox Rockstar completed by the end of play next week…

And then I’ll be able to get this incredible membership into the hands of the masses!

I’ve also written six emails this week, so if any of them passed you by, catch up with them here:

Monday:

The Newbie’s Nightmare

I can’t claim to have thought this email up all by myself – it was actually inspired by a post over at the Warrior Forum. I even lifted the title verbatim. Occasionally, you spot a gem among the gigabytes of rubbish posted over there which inspires some solid marketing content. The “nightmare” on this occasion is information overload – it’s incredible how Internet Marketing has exploded over the past few years. There are now more opportunities, or “distractions” as I like to call them, preventing the humble “noob” from making the monies online. Of course, at the end of this post, I offer the solution to this…

Tuesday:

Why Germans Get Their  Email To Your Inbox First

Seeing as I wasn’t getting much sleep at this point during the week I thought it made sense to write about a study that looked at the slumber patterns of others – 75,000 others in fact. It found that Germans need less sleep, are up earlier and are out of bed sooner than us here in the UK which goes some way to explaining why there’s never a sunbed to be found when you are away on holiday! The study also suggested creativity is impaired with a lack of sleep although I can’t say it affected me this week. I am of course, a marketing machine and a few less hours kip during the night isn’t going to stop me from smashing my to-do list!

Wednesday:

Cone And The Barbarians

Something that really annoys me are rules which have seemingly been put in place for no other reason than to simply have some rules in place. If there are no rules in place, you can guarantee somebody in “power”, somewhere, will decide there needs to be some. What happens then is so many rules are drawn up by different people in different departments, with no communication between them, these rules often contradict each other something rotten. So, whether it’s some jobsworth deciding ice cream vans should no longer be allowed to play music, or Google not knowing its arse from its elbow when it comes to what’s acceptable regarding Adsense placement, you can guarantee a thoroughly miserable time can be endured by all!

Thursday:

Danger! Exploding Blue-Tack!

More rules to laugh at in this post. Here, I looked at some of the ridiculous decisions made by those in officialdom whose job spec includes making sure people don’t enjoy themselves. As a child, our classroom windows were adorned by the sub-standard pieces of work we created. How were they fixed to the glass? Blu-Tack of course. During the 20 or so years since I’ve been out of primary school nobody has been killed from windows shattering due to Blu-Tack involvement. That didn’t stop one complainer who suggested to the contrary. The marketing lesson here? There isn’t one. I just wrote about this because my subscribers enjoyed Wednesday’s post so much. Lesson hint: Give your subscribers more of what they want…

Friday:

Marketing Lessons From Lohan And Sheen

Both Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen have both drank and sniffed their way through millions of dollars donated to them by the corporate juggernaut that is Hollywood. However, while both have behaved atrociously, been arrested and spent time in rehab, Sheen continues to bank millions while Lohan’s career has been on the wane for several years. What makes one so different from the other in terms of earning power? The answer is revealed in this post and should be noted if you want to become Internet Marketing’s own “hell raiser” yourself!

Saturday:

James Bond’s 50-Year-Old Marketing Secret

I can’t say I’ve always been a massive James Bond fan. In fact, I’ve never watched a Bond movie all the way through featuring Connery, Moor, Dalton, Brosnan or the other guy that made one film. However, I have enjoyed the two movies starring Daniel Craig and am looking forward to the latest 007 installment later this year. The James Bond franchise was voted the best movie series in a recent poll and in this post I look at how it has remained popular for 50 years. Useful if you see yourself in business for any length of time!

Have a great weekend!
