Marketing Write Off

Today I want to talk about “how” you do your marketing.

I know you use a PC or a Mac and use a load of different software to complete from start to finish…

But what about before you get to that stage?

I’m talking about how do you get that initial idea out of your brain and then map it out into a tangible product or campaign?

The reason I ask is I read a few days back that many adults now go six weeks without writing anything by hand…

And one in three in the UK where I live admit to not writing anything for six months!

These statistics astounded me.

I’m probably a little old school in that I write, by hand, almost every single day.

I write my monthly, weekly and daily plans in a page-per-day diary that sits on my desk…

I have a monthly dry-wipe board on my home office wall which gets filled in each day…

Plus, I have a couple of notepads and A4 refill pads on my desk where I record my ideas as they come to me and plan out my latest marketing campaign or sales funnel.

I agree with the report which says those who still write only do it for their eyes only…

Their handwriting has got worse…

And text-style abbreviations like “u” for “you” are common.

But, ultimately, does that really matter?

I think not.

I could easily use some fancy software for everything I write by hand…

However, I just like to feel the pen between my fingers and see the ink hit the paper.

Anyway, that’s just a little insight into how I do my day-to-day marketing and I’d like to know how you do yours, so please leave me a comment below!

I love pens, I have a nice pencil for quick notes and coloured pens so that I can take notes on little bits of paper and mark them quickly if they need sorting with a coloured pen. I was doing it with a program running yesterday and I keep up with what was going on using this method. If important I then transfer to the Excel sheet for that product or notepad2 for notes and also working out any writing I have to do around those notes. My handwriting is appalling as I have arthritis but there are pens and pencils all around the house.

Oh the little pieces of paper get stapled together and put in the correct file – I use them as someone once gave us big boxes of Business Link Note holders and pads to fit.
